The ILO  Seminar on the Potential of Social Protection to Build to Disasters

The International Labour Organization (ILO), in collaboration with the Government of the Philippines and the ASEAN Secretariat, invite ECOT to participate in the Seminar on the Potential of Social Protection to Build to Disasters on 22-24 November 2016 in Manila, Philippines.

The seminar will provide an opportunity to discuss the role of social protection in the preparation and response to natural disasters; and assist tripartite constituents of ASEAN in taking concrete steps towards implementing disaster-responsive social protection, guided by international labour standards and other countries’ experiences.

Participants will involve technical partners and practitioners from government agencies representing the Senior Labour Officials Meeting (SLOM), Senior Officials Meeting on Social Welfare and Development (SOMSWD) and the ASEAN Committee on Disasters Management (ACMD), as well as representatives of workers and employer’s organizations involved in the advocacy and implementation of social protection and disaster management of the 10 ASEAN Member States.
